MONTICELLO- William “Red” Broughton, 92, formerly of Frankfort, passed away Friday, June 7, 2019. He was born in Henry County, Kentucky to the late Johnnie and Mamie Downey Broughton on March 30, 1927. Mr. Broughton retired from the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Department after 33 years. He was a World War II Army Veteran, a lifetime member of the VFW, a Kentucky Colonel and a Kentucky Admiral.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Peggy Wyatt Broughton, Monticello; his children, Debbie Broughton (David) Rogers, and Johnny (Jamie Wiley) Broughton, both of Frankfort; his sister, Eva Hardin, TX; grandchildren, Dawn (Greg) Bodine, Brandon (Shannon) Rogers, Chris (Anissa) Rogers, James William “JW” (Heather) Broughton, and Rebecca (John) Perry; great grandchildren, Tori and Sarah Childress, Taylor and Caroline Rogers, Carley Stein, Sydney and Logan Rogers, Alexis, Faith, and Aiyana Sutherland; and great great grandchildren, Calum, Everett and Beckham Stein.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be Thursday, June 13, 2019 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Clark Legacy Center, Frankfort. A service in Wayne County will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association www.diabetes.org in Red’s honor.
