Doris J. Leigh, 96, widow of Charles Leigh, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 3, 2026. A proud, lifelong resident of Midway, Kentucky, she was born on September 8, 1929, to the late Roy and Julia Devers Jones.

Doris dedicated 46 years of distinguished service to her community as the Chief Deputy for the Woodford County Property Valuation Administration. Following her retirement, her devotion to her hometown never wavered. She actively served on numerous committees, including the Midway City Council, Midway Cemetery Committee, the Veterans Committee, and the Homeplace Task Force, always keeping Midway at the heart of her efforts. She was a member of Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church. A passionate advocate for politics, Doris was also a devoted member and former Chairperson of the Woodford County Democratic Party.

During her time at The Willows, she had many special friends who became like family to her. She was deeply loved by her nurses, caregivers and staff. Her family is grateful for the kindness and compassion shown to her.

Above all, Gigi possessed a warmth that touched every life she encountered.

She is survived by her daughter, Julie (David) Clark, and her son, Steve Leigh, both of Midway; Gigi’s grandchildren, Leigh (Jason) Nahra, Guy Clark, Tyler (Taylor) Clark, and Linzi (Scott) Said; her cherished great-grandchildren, Ridge, Oakes, Harbour, Frances, Eli, Riggs, Rhodes, Amber, and Dax; and several nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Hazel McDaniel and her brothers, Shirley “Bud” Jones and Louis Jones.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Midway Cemetery. Serving as casketbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary casketbearers will be Jimmy Murphy, County Attorney Alan George, Judge Tony Wilhoit, Judge Executive James Kay and Dr. Dale Goodin.
