Lewis Matthew Britton Sr

Lewis M. Britton, Sr., a lifelong resident of Woodford County, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026 at the age of 94 years.

He is survived by his wife of almost 73 years, Peggy “Joan” Emmett Britton.

Also surviving are daughters, Peggy Newton and Mary Ann (Paul) Moughamian and son Larry (Mona) Britton. Lewis was blessed to have nine grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Lawrence M. Britton, Jr. And Mary Slugantz Britton, and his son, Lewis M. Britton, Jr.

Lewis was a Veteran of the US Air Force. He was a member of Buford Landmark Lodge #41, Oleika Shrine Temple, American Legion Post 67 and the VFW. In his retirement years, he enjoyed fishing and his winter home in Lake Wales, Florida.

Graveside Service will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at Versailles Cemetery. Brewster McLead will be officiating. Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill is in charge of arrangements.
