Otha Wethington Jr., a devoted man of faith, family, and hard work, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, March 19, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication. He was born in Casey County, Kentucky on January 30, 1945 to the late Otha Guy and Rose McFarland Wethington.
He faithfully worked at Hurstland/Nuckols Horse Farm for approximately 48 years, where his strong work ethic and commitment earned the respect of all who knew him. His career was not just a job, but a testament to his perseverance and pride in providing for his family.
Many years ago, he dedicated his life to God, a decision that shaped the rest of his life. He became a valued Board Member of New Life Assembly of God, where he served with humility, faith, and a servant’s heart.
In his spare time, he found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved fishing, often spending quiet moments by the water. He also enjoyed playing his guitar and singing, sharing music with those around him. A passionate sports fan, he rarely missed cheering on the Cincinnati Reds and the Kentucky Wildcats.
Above all, he loved his family deeply. He worked tirelessly to ensure they had everything they needed, always putting their well-being first. His love, strength, and guidance will be dearly missed but forever remembered.
In addition to his wife, Loretta Wethington, he is survived by his daughters, Terrie Bishop (James) and Mary Beth Drake (Josh); his sister, Rose Lee Roe; his brother, Robert Wethington (Linda); his grandchildren, Tim Wilson (Paige), Tara Noble (Kenneth), Michael Bishop, Ryan Brown, Guy Drake, and Kaiya Drake; as well as his great grandchildren, Layla Ann Wilson, Lexi Wilson, and Riley Wilson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Crystal Gail Wethington; his sister, Verna “Bunny” Murphy; and his brothers, Steve Wethington, Larry Wethington, and Darrell Wethington.
