Linda Lou Cook, 82, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 11, 2026 at 6:26 am, in Lakeland, Florida.

Born on February 12, 1944, in Springfield, Ohio, Linda lived a life rooted deeply in faith and family. She was truly the glue of her family, known for her quick wit, bright sense of humor, and a selfless heart that always put others before herself. A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since 1975, Linda discovered a lifelong passion for genealogy. She spent decades lovingly tracing family trees, piecing together ancestral stories, and generously helping others discover their own roots—work she continued devotedly right up to the end.

Linda’s legacy of love lives on through her family. She is survived by her brother, Dale (Beverly) Dixon; her sister, Cheryl (Terry) Buck; her daughters, Jackie (Timothy) Giles and Jeannie Cook; her cherished grandchildren, Autumn Moore, Maverick Moore, and Kiara Moore; and her beloved great-granddaughter, Kalayah Hodges. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Frederica (White) Dixon; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Gene (Gertie) Dixon and Gary (Sandra) Dixon; her nephew, Danny Dixon; and her former husband, Joe Lee Cook.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to the VITAS hospice team, who provided extraordinary, compassionate care to ensure Linda was comfortable and surrounded by dignity to her very last breath. Their kindness and dedication made them feel like family during this difficult time.

She will be greatly missed. We will cling onto all the wonderful memories of our time together and know we will see her again.
