Robert Dean Southern

Robert Dean Southern, born Sept 6, 1960 (Idaho) and ascended to Heaven on May 7, 2026 (Oregon). 

He had a very loving heart that was also very weak and could no longer keep him grounded to this Earth. We mourn a loving father, brother and friend to all who knew him.Robert is survived by his children who were his pride, joy and crowning glory: Curtis (Elleanna) and Mel (Healey) and his precious granddaughter Serene. He also leaves behind his siblings: “Sisterbug” Connor (Damon) and “Joe T”, Karen, Linda and Kevin Robert was “Uncle Bob” to Richard, James and John as well as Anika and Jeremiah and a forever Brother-In-Law to Rick Robert also leaves behind his good friends Barry, Lou and Andrew, as well as many other family and good friends and his beloved dog "Lacey Mae".

Robert was predeceased by his parents: Robert L.Southern (aka Alonzo James McGillis) and Dotty Sue (Claybaugh, Southern) Cochrane and his siblings Jeannie and Michael.

Robert was a Boy Scout, Army veteran and muscle car aficionado who loved hunting and fishing and riding his Harley. He loved sitting around a campfire and sharing stories with all who would listen, trips to the coast with family and friends and visiting historic military museums. He laughed with his heart and his hands and it was infectious! He would give the shirt off his back because there was always someone that needed it more.

Robert was an organ donor and successfully donated tissue and his cornea’s, which have already been transplanted and someone is now seeing life through Robert’s eyes.His absence leaves a place that can never be filled but the memories will be abundant to carry us through. 

In honor of Robert, plant a tree or teach a kid to fish and love those around you today because we never know about tomorrow. Robert was cremated at Crown and a private family memorial will be planned for a later date.
