Russell Michael Zauner

Dec 12, 1966 — Sep 21, 2026

Russell Zauner, a remarkable soul known for his insatiable curiosity and profound love for his family, passed away unexpectedly on September 21, 2026, at home at the age of 59, due to a cardiac event. Born on December 12, 1966, in Oregon City, Oregon at Willamette Falls hospital. Russell's life was a testament to love, resilience, and an enduring quest for knowledge.

The beloved son of James Henry and the late Nancy Elaine Zauner, Russell was a cherished brother to Nannette Cooper, Teresa Day, Denise Gorman, Karen Clarke, and James Henry Zauner Jr. He was predeceased by his mother and his oldest sister, Nanette Cooper. Russell's passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of his surviving family, including his devoted wife, Alexandra, to whom he was married for over three decades, and their four treasured children: Aurora, Amethyst, Zachariah, and Jerome.

Russell married, Alexandra, on August 16, 1996, after sharing three wonderful years together. Their marriage, spanning 34 years, was filled with both challenges and triumphs, but they always found strength in one another, working through life's ups and downs together. Their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership.

An individual of immense intelligence, Russell was known for his relentless pursuit of knowledge. Whether you had a question about history, science, or the mechanics of a complex machine, Russell was the person to ask. If he didn't know the answer, he would diligently research until he found it, showcasing his passion for learning and understanding the world around him.

In addition to his intellectual pursuits, Russell had a deep love for music and the great outdoors. He delighted in playing musical instruments and singing, often filling his home with melodies that brought joy to his family. His love for nature was equally strong, and he cherished the moments spent outdoors, exploring the beauty of the world with his loved ones.

Russell's life was rich with family, including many aunts, uncles, and cousins who were dear to him. Although he did not have grandchildren or great-grandchildren, his legacy lives on through the love and memories he leaves with his family and friends.

A private ceremony will be held to honor Russell's life later in keeping with his family's wishes. The family will notify family and friends when. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to their donation page to help in paying the cost of unexpected expenses. https://www.supportnow.org/russell-zauners-family

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful emergency staff who were present in their time of need and to Crown Memorial in Portland for their assistance and compassion. Russell Zauner will be remembered for his kindness, intelligence, and the love he shared with those around him. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
