Jean Maris

Jean Maris, 100 years old, most recently residing in Sammamish, WA, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2026. Born on October 2, 1925 in Portland, OR to Owen Ross and Jeannette Gilder Maris, she attended Grant High School and followed her father into the banking profession. She was employed by the Oregon Bank and successor banks over her 45+ year career. She and her mother enjoyed traveling and gardening at their Portland home.

Jean loved her family, and never missed an opportunity to send a birthday greeting or Christmas card. In 2014 she moved to the Sammamish area where she could be closer to family residing in the area. The family is grateful for the community and care she received at Bellewood Retirement Community and Family to Family Senior Care.

Jean was able to live actively and independently into her 100th year, and was known at Bellewood for her daily walks around the property and greetings to all she met along the way. She will remembered for her impish and very self-effacing personality.

She is survived by nephews Steve (Susan) Maris, Don (Nancy) Maris, Neil (Pam) Maris, and niece Janet (Cyrus) Vaughn. She was preceded in death by her parents, Owen and Jeannette Maris, and her brother Robert West Maris.
