Karen Nunn

Aug 11, 1956 — Aug 21, 2026

Karen Jean Nunn, 70, of Tacoma, Washington, passed away on August 21, 2026.

Born on August 11, 1956, in Puyallup, Washington, to Merrill and Wilma Barker, Karen grew up in Puyallup as the middle child and only sister alongside four brothers—a cherished role she carried with strength, grace, and plenty of patience.

Karen spent her life serving others as a compassionate caregiver. Outside of her work, she was a talented artist and deeply passionate about genealogy, devoting countless hours to tracing her family's roots and keeping in touch with friends and distant family members across the country. Her creative spirit, warmth, and dedication to preserving family history left a lasting mark on everyone who knew her.

She was a devoted and loving mother to her daughter, Candice Pennick, and a cherished grandmother to her two grandchildren, Ja'Shon and Maliyah. She is also survived by her four brothers and their families: Randy, Larry (and his wife Janice), David, and Ron (and his wife Connie) Barker; her beloved niece Breanna; nephews Eli and Eric; as well as many extended family members and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Merrill and Wilma Barker.

A celebration of life will be held on September 18th from 2:00 - 4:00 PM at Hill Funeral Home, 819 River Rd, Puyallup, WA 98371. A reception with light refreshments will follow.
