Mary Ann O'Brien, daughter of Patrick Leo O'Brien and Olive Harriet Mordhorst, was born November 6, 1938, in Tacoma, Washington. She passed away peacefully at age 87 on September 4, 2026, at her home in Graham, Washington.

Raised in Buckley, Mary spread her wings after high school, pursuing her dreams in California, Alaska, and back to Washington. Mary was quickwitted, intuitive and she was the life of every party—telling stories, turning heads, making people laugh, and pushing boundaries.

Mary met Bob Johnson as teenagers and married the love of her life in 1987. They were nearly inseparable, traveling the world together, building bridges, making friends, and celebrating life. Mary was a steadfast companion as Bob worked on levees, dikes, and bridges for Manson in many locations. Though they had no children together, they lovingly welcomed one another’s children as their own.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Johnson.

She is survived by her son Jeff Wisot and his wife Nancy; their daughters Jaci, Lindsey, Gabrielle, and Katherine; great-grandchildren Russell, Summer, and Zinnia; by her son Troy Newman-Mariotti and his wife Melissa; their five children Daniel Wayne Newman-Mariotti, Hannah Marie Clark (named after Mary), Matthew Parmiro Newman-Mariotti, Sarah Jean Gorman, and Jacob Ronald O’Brien Newman-Mariotti; and their grandchildren.
