Valerie Ann Valentine

Valerie passed away peacefully in her home on August 28, 2026, with her children by her side. She was born on April 21, 1938 in Sturgis, South Dakota and as a child in an army family she lived in many different places in the United States and Europe, graduating high school in Heidelberg Germany. Valerie married the love of her life in 1961 and enjoyed 52 years of marriage until Ralph’s passing in 2013. She was the deeply loved matriarch of a large extended family and a dear friend to many.

Family was Valerie’s focus. She devoted herself to raising her three children and keeping the family connected. She was smart, funny, witty, loving and a leader. She loved reading, scrabble and grammar. She was a talented and prolific quilter and longtime member of her quilt guild. Her family will cherish her creations for generations to come.

Valerie is survived by her children Eve (Richard), Anne (Dale), and Wade (Kelly), her seven granddaughters, one grandson and her great granddaughter. She will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed.

A small family ceremony will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery on October 12, 2026 where she will be interred with her beloved husband Ralph. In lieu of flowers, donations in Valerie’s name may made to the Virginia Mason Franciscan Health Foundation, designated for Hospice and Palliative Care or Wreaths Across America, supporting Tahoma National Cemetery.
