Elwood Jay Pearsall, age 83, of Nokomis, FL died on September 12, 2007. He was born in Pleasant Plains, NY on May 7, 1924, and came to Nokomis 15 years ago from Staten Island, NY. He was a Lieutenant for the New York City Fire Department and a Master Carpenter. Mr. Pearsall was a WWII Army veteran, and a member of the American Legion and the US Coast Guard Auxiliary. Surviving family members include his wife of 60 years, Eleanor Pearsall of Nokomis, daughter Barbara Doener of Nokomis; son Richard Pearsall of Valencia, California; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Visitation will be on Saturday, September 15th from 4 – 5 PM at Farley Funeral Home, Venice Chapel, with a funeral service beginning at 5 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Venice Church of the Nazarene, where Mr. Pearsall was a member, at 1535 Venice Avenue E., Venice, FL 34292.
