David M. Westover March 8, 1959 – June 9, 2018 Dave passed away peacefully at home on June 9th, 2018 after a long battle with heart, lung, and kidney disease. Dave is survived by his mother, Dorothy Westover; brothers and sisters, Daniel Westover, Dennis and Eileen Westover, Denise Westover and Barb Simmons, Darlene and Jon Friedline; his daughter, Jennifer and her husband, Gregory; adored granddaughters, Emma and Sophia; and his many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, James R. Westover. Dave has always been happy-go-lucky, always enjoying people and having a good time. He spoke fondly of his high-school days and young adulthood, mostly when trying to teach his daughter the good lesson, “You can’t get away with it because I’ve already done it.” Dave spent most of his work life with car grease under his nails as an automotive mechanic. When Dave was well, he loved to spend his weekends outdoors; camping, fishing, and boating with whoever was up for a fun time. He was easy to befriend, and trusted just about everybody. For most of his young adulthood, you could find Dave on the ball field. He returned to the field as a softball coach while his daughter was a player, bravely taking on the challenge of coaching several teams, travelling to various cities for tournaments and games with a whole lot of rambunctious and energetic teenagers. Dave passed on his extensive knowledge of skills and strategies to the many players he coached during those memorable years. This was truly another highlight of his life, and has kept the trophies and team pictures proudly on display. Dave’s proudest duty was one of a devoted father and grandfather. He cared deeply for his family, but no one more than “his girls.” His lessons of “remember to have fun,” and “do what you think is right,” still ring in Jenny’s ears. His recent days were spent giving his grand daughters hugs, kisses, and lots of treats. They will fondly remember his funny faces, jokes, wheelchair rides, treats in bed, and most of all, his devotion and love. There are no words to express how deeply Dave will be missed. Private memorial arrangements have been made by his family.
