Laura Joy ‘L.J.’ Hachmeister, 42, died on April 4, 2023, in Lakewood, Colorado. L.J. was born on September 7, 1980. L.J. graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University with a bachelor’s in nursing. L.J. was an avid soccer player until her early 30’s. She then began concentrating on learning more martial arts. L. J. earned black belts in Doce Pares Eskrima and Taekwondo and a brown belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. L. J. was also a cross-genre author under the umbrella of science fiction/fantasy. Her Cuban roots and LGBTQA+ ties, and her career as a registered nurse greatly impacted her writing. However, her love for rescuing puppies and working with other animal charity organizations drove her passion for success as an author so she could give to animals in need. L. J. was an avid sponsor for “Lifeline Puppy Rescue.” A celebration of Life will be held on May 20, 2023, from 2-5pm at Atonement Lutheran Church, 6281 W Yale Ave, Lakewood CO, 80227.
