ROBERT A. GRASHOFF LT. COL. (Ret.) USAF Viera Robert ""Bob"" Grashoff, the pilot with a heart of a lion, passed away on May 25, 2012 after loosing his fight against cancer. Bob was born in Buffalo, N.Y. On October 6, 1918. He is survived by his loving wife of seventy years, Marjorie Davies Grashoff; Son Robert B. Grashoff; Son Stewart A. Grashoff and spouse Teresa N. Grashoff from Orlando; and Grandsons Samuel B. and Benjamin A. Grashoff from Overland Park, Kansas. He Is also survived by Brothers Thomas and Richard and Sisters Mary Jane and Betty Lou. After graduating from High School in 1936, he attended Buffalo University and worked at Buffalo Forge Co. As war loomed on the Horizon, he enlisted in the Army In 1940. Commissioned at 2nd Lt. In 1942, he became a Bombardier, Navigator, and a Pilot. Spending 28 years in the USAF flying bombers in the Strategic Air Command, he Retired to become Vice-President of the Bank of Bellevue, Bellevue Nebraska and later President, Southroads Bank in Bellevue. While in the service, he received his BA degree at the University of Omaha. In 1978, he retired again and moved to Tequesta, Florida. His final move was to the community he loved the most, Indian River Colony Club in Melbourne. He stayed very active while at IRCC As President of the Kiwanis Club of IRCC and through the Kiwanis, was a reader to pre-K children at Univer- sity Park Elementary School for 17+ years. He was also recognized for his Food Basket Program leadership and is inscribed on the Kiwanis Tablet of Honor. His memory will live on at University Park where Grasshopper Park is dedicated to Grandpa Grasshopper. Memorial Services will be on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at IRCC's At Ease Club with Burial services at The V A National Cemetery in Lake Worth at a later date.
