John died June 25, 2013 at home after a bout with leukemia at the age of 74. Born in Cleveland, Ohio the 26th day of July 1938 to Steve Sr. and Theresa Sovich. John was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Steve Jr., George P., and Michael. He is survived by his life partner of 29 years, Daniel E. Oslowski,and his daughter Meredith Oslowski and grandchildren Kayla and Dominick.of Mayfield Heights, OH. Nephew Troy George Sovich of Clearwater, Fl., Niece Kelly Ann Davis of North Royalton, OH., niece Dawn Holt (Husband Ben)of Madison, Ohio, Niece Terese Cheraso (Husband Frank) of Wickliffe, Ohio. John Graduated from John Adams HS Cleveland, Ohio in June of 1956. He continued his education taking courses at Cleveland State University and Pepperdine University. After graduating from High school John served his country at the US Navy Finance Center and six years as a full time Ohio National Guardsman with the 107th Armored Cavalry Aviation Company. He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-5) at the age of 18 he became active politically in Federal, State, county and Municipal Government. He spent the last 30 years of his working life with Woodruff, Inc., consulting Engineers and Architects with a history going back to 1903. He worked his way up in the firm from Clerk-Typist to stockholder, Executive VP, and member of the Board of Directors. He served as Vice President and Board Member of Paradise Beach Club Resort in Satellite Beach Florida. He and Dan moved to six mile creek, Viera in 1997 and built their retirement home. He became very active with the HOA and served in many positions on the Board of Directors and a volunteer on various committees. Remembering John is to know his emphasis on detail, his active support, and his devotion to family, friends, and neighbors. He was there for everyone, extended family and all. He loved traveling and wanted to see the entire world and saw a great part of it. He enjoyed poker, gardening, and was a polka fanatic. Those who became part of his life were family to him. A Celebration of Life will be held 10:00AM, Friday, July 19, 2013 at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church 5655 Stadium Parkway, Viera, Fl. In lieu of flowers make donations to The American Cancer Society.
