Charles Flippo, 84, born in Rocky Mount, VA passed away peacefully on Monday, 29 Feb 2016 at William Childs Hospice House surrounded by friends and family. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Nancy, and children; Richard (Lana) CA, Stephen (Rebecca) AL, Laura Camp (Cass) VA, and David (Dawn) AK. Step-children: Rebecca Bondurant (Bill), Dinah Gottschalk (Kurt), Eddie Hale (Kathy), Lori Fox (Ron), and Elizabeth Rose (Michael); and 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and sister, Jean Carson (Clay). He was predeceased by his father, Alton, and mother, Bernice Scott, of Rocky Mount, VA and his bulldog, Belle. Charles was a graduate of Virginia Tech (52) and served in the US Air Force for 26 years. After retirement he spent his time between Floyd Co, VA and Viera FL in the community of Indian River Colony Club where he pursued his interests in golf, bluegrass music, antique clocks, VT Hokie sports, Dodger baseball and travel/cruises. A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life reception will be held at the IRCC Country Club on Thursday, 3 March 2016, at 11:30am. Reception to follow. A subsequent Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Floyd County, Virginia with final internment to be held at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, DC. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the William Childs Hospice, Wounded Warriors, or The V Foundation for Cancer Research.
