Helene Downs, 92, of Palm Bay, FL passed away peacefully on Friday, July 15, 2016. She is survived by her children Thomas Spoleti and his wife Gail of Red Bank, NJ; Marie Gaudy and her husband Joe of Palm Bay, FL; Darlene Perna and her husband Jim of Merritt Island, FL; and Kevin Spoleti of Mullica Hill, NJ; along with 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Helene was born in Itterswiller, France in 1924 and immigrated with her mother and maternal grandparents to New York City in the late 1920’s. There she met the love of her life, Harold Spoleti, while attending St. Michael’s Academy in Manhattan. They married in 1944 and together raised 4 children in Brooklyn, NY. Throughout her life she loved all things Disney, watching competitive roller skating, sewing, painting, crafting of all sorts, playing the piano, and especially working; most recently volunteering at Galaxy Skateway in Melbourne, FL up until she turned 85 years of age. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Community in Palm Bay, FL where a Funeral Mass will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 22, 2016. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wuesthoff Health Systems Brevard Hospice.
