Raymond Lee Brush, 84, of Rockledge, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2023. Born in Defiance, Ohio, on September 30, 1939, to Glen and Agnes Brush, Ray spent his early years enjoying life in Hicksville, Ohio. His appreciation of the simple things came from life in a small town where he spent time roaming farms and watching Amish buggies pass by. As time went by, Ray became a standout for the Hicksville High “Aces” baseball team. After graduating high school, he moved to Florida and continued to develop his impressive baseball skills. His love of sports continued throughout his life as he enjoyed watching football with family and playing golf with friends. Whatever sport he tried, he picked it up easily and effortlessly, much to the chagrin of others. Raymond seemed to know everyone and had a warm smile for all. Early in his career, he was the neighborhood barber. Later in life, he managed a retirement community. Everyone who crossed paths with Raymond would agree he was a character. From the neighbors who hung out with him by the porch swing to the Drayton Island Poker Club, there were countless stories and laughs to be had. He was known for his quick-witted sense of humor and for making a mean rum and coke. Most importantly, Ray loved with all his might. Friends and family knew they were his heart and soul, and he always made sure to take care of those he loved. Raymond was completely devoted to his wife of 52 years, Sandra. His beautiful blue eyes lit up every time he saw her. Raymond was incredibly proud of his family and took advantage of every opportunity to brag about them to others. Ray is survived by his beautiful wife, Sandra; their daughter, Randi, and her husband, Jeremy. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Riley, who was his pride and joy. Additionally, he is survived by his aunt, Marie; sister, Susie; sister-in-law, Sue; in-laws, Donna, Nick, Nancy and Steve; nieces Kim, LeAnn, Kristy, Tracy and Melissa; nephews, Kevin and Steven. Raymond was preceded in death by parents, Glen and Agnes Brush; brother, Ken; brother-in-law, Wayne; and daughter, Jessica. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
