Dennis Marvin Lanier, 71, husband of Helen Danikas Lanier, resident of Swansea, passed away Monday, May 13, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born September 25, 1947 in Garfield, GA, he was the son of the late Hardy Marvin and Elizabeth Coats Lanier. He was a graduate of Millen High School in Millen, GA. He later moved to South Carolina where he became a very successful business man. Dennis was the President and CEO of Lanier Construction Company, was a member of the Asphalt Paving Association and was highly regarded in his field by the South Carolina Department of Transportation. Dennis was a generous, selfless and kind friend to all. He loved the outdoors and truly enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends. He was a long-time active member of Trinity Baptist Church in Cayce. Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Helen of the home; two daughters, Nikki Lanier (Fiancée Nathan Vance) and Abigail Lanier all of Swansea; one brother, Daniel Ward of Gaston; one nephew, Hardy M. Lanier of Rock Hill; best friend, Bobby Aycock; and all of his Lanier Construction Family. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, May 20th at the Thompson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel with the Rev. Kenny Gillum officiating. A private burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home in Lexington. Pallbearers will be John Chesler, Curtis Miles, Nick Danikas and Bobby Aycock. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38015 or Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the Lanier family.
