John Melton Watts, 69, resident of West Columbia, SC, passed away on September 29, 2019, at his residence. Born April 6, 1950, in San Antonio, TX, he was a son of the late Robert Melton and Alma Viola Myers Watts. He was retired from a successful career in the retail furniture industry. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially enjoyed loading the grill for some great outdoor cooking. He also loved sneaking away for a relaxing afternoon of fishing. John was of the Baptist faith. John is survived by one son, John Robert Watts and his partner, Ashleigh Waters of Batesburg; five grandchildren, Whitney, J.J., Madison, Adalynn and Nataleigh; and one great-grandchild, Paisley. John is also survived by three sisters, Linda Silvernail, Debbie Fitzgerald (Barry) and Carla Sadlier (Tom); one brother, Bob Watts; and many nieces, nephews and other dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Brandon Dianne Watts; step-daughter, Kandi D. Stone; and a sister Sharon Diane Watts. Memorial Services will be conducted Thursday, October 3rd at 6 PM at Thompson Funeral Home Lexington with the Rev. Michael Hood officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 PM to 6 PM prior to the service. The family suggests that those wishing to make memorials do so to the Wounded Warrior Project. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the Watts Family.
