Celebrating the Life of Mediha (DeDe) Green Mediha Green who was affectionately known as DeDe was born on February 12, 1959 in Chicago, Illinois to Maereather and Marvin Green Sr. DeDe was born the third of four children and was preceded in death by Father Marvin Green Sr. and oldest sibling Marvin Green Jr. DeDe graduated from Morgan Park High School in 1978. Over the years she worked several jobs. However, because of her love for people and outgoing personality she seemed to gravitate towards jobs which involved working with the public. Therefore, she found her niche working in Student Affairs at the University of Chicago. While working there she developed many lifelong relationships with students and other faculty members. In 2003 DeDe suffered a stroke which diminished some of her physical ability. Nevertheless, in spite of her physical challenges she continued to live her life to the fullest. Through her struggles, she remained a strong and spirited woman who lived and loved life until she was called home to be with the Lord on February 5, 2014. DeDe will be missed; but we are comforted knowing that she is in a better place for we know that being absent from the body she is now present with the Lord! DeDe’s memory will be cherished as she is survived by her Son: Anthony Green; Mother: Maereather Green; Sister: Marguerite Green; Brothers: Kim Green and wife (Kimberly), Marselus Green; two grandchildren; three nieces; three nephews; six great-nephews, several aunts and uncles, as well as a host of cousins. Visitation for Ms. Green will take place on Friday, February 14th from 5-7pm at Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation & Burial Services, 7475 Peppermill Parkway North Charleston, SC 29418. A funeral celebrating her life will take place Saturday, February 15th at 10am at Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation & Burial Services. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. Message to the Family and Friends Sometimes in life there are things that we feel that we cannot bear. But it’s during these times we must remember that Jesus is always there. So rest assured that I’m happy because now I’m free from heart ache, despair, and without a care! So just remember as you stop, look, and stare; don’t cry for me because I’m no longer there! Rejoice! I’ve been called home to Jesus up in the air where He has given me rest for my soul so this I must share.
