Graveside funeral services for Clarence Jack Hammond, 88, of Columbia, will be held at 10 AM, Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Serenity Gardens. Reverend Dr. Hugo S. Hammond will officiate. The family will greet friends following the service at graveside. Mr. Jack Hammond passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2017. Born in Anniston, AL, he was a son of the late Rev. Porter Howard Hammond and Willie Bell Ford Hammond, and husband of 60 years to the late Lexann Hammond who passed away on March 12, 2012. Jack was an avid Georgia football fan, and enjoyed history. Jack is survived by his daughters, Patti Elkins of Lexington, Jennifer Christmas (James) of Eastover, 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Hugo Hammond (Letha), Kenneth Hammond (Joann), Cecil Hammond (Ann); sister, Joyce Ward, and a large and loving extended family. In addition to his parents and his wife, Jack was predeceased by his brother, Phillip Hammond; sister, Ruth Turner. The family would like to thank the staffs of Lexington Extended Care and Lexington Medical Center for their compassionate and loving care.
