Burton E. Becker
January 17th, 1930 - March 26th, 2012
Mr. Burton E. Becker Jr., 82 formerly of Gloversville passed away March 26, 2012 at the Uhlien Nursing Facility in Lake Placid N.Y., where he had been a resident for the past five years. Born January 17, 1930 in Gloversville, he was the son of the late Burton E. and Ruth Walter Becker Sr. He was educated in Mayfield schools and served in the U, S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Burt was in the floral business much of his life, working at Lohse Florist for about fifteen years and the former Roy's Greenhouse in Gloversville retiring upon their closing in the 1970's. He also worked for a time at Grandoe Gloves, and Johnstown Knitting Mill. Mr. Becker was a former member of the VFW Post 2077 in Gloversville and the former Sacred Heart Church Social Club. He is survived by his daughter Debra Ronnacer and her husband Steve of Bedford, N.H.; a sister Marilyn "Micky" Lansing and her husband John of Lake Placid, nieces, nephews and cousins. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 am Thursday at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 149 S. Main St. Gloversville. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 am at Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, NY 12078; prior to the Mass. Burial will be in Union Rural Cemetery, Mayfield. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the Church of the Holy Spirit.
