Deborah Ann Bradt Town, 61, of Mayfield, died on Friday, October 14, 2011 in her home, with her family at her side. She was born in Gloversville on December 9, 1949, the daughter of Delbert and Kathryn Bradt of Meco. She was a 1967 graduate of Mayfield Central School. Early in life, she was married to Mark Olson of Mayfield, with whom she had two daughters. She spent the last 18 years of her life with her husband and soulmate, Roy Town, of Mayfield. Debbie was employed as a school bus driver for Mayfield Central School District, until retiring in 2010 with 36 years of service. She also had a successful career in real estate. She was licensed as a salesperson in 1979 and as a broker in 1986. She had been affiliated with Coldwell Banker Arlene M. Sitterly, Inc. in Johnstown since 1991. She was actively involved in the community, volunteering her time and talent to various organizations, including the Mayfield Fire Department and The Mayfield Historical Society. She loved to scour garage sales and antique shops searching for treasures for her antique business. She also loved to spend time on the lake, always surrounded by good friends. Above all, she was devoted to her family. She was passionate about everything in life, both professionally and personally. She worked hard and played hard and was loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She is survived by her parents, Delbert and Kathryn Bradt; her husband, Roy Town; her daughters, Kelly Harper of Mayfield and Darcie Olson of Moscow, Idaho; her stepchildren, Melanie Lathrop Andrew of Gloversville, Amanda Town of North Adams, Massachusetts, and Jeff Town of Mayfield; her sisters, Sandy Hurlbert Robert of Meco and Joyce Robbins Rob of Meco; her grandhildren, Harrison and Grace Harper, Mila Becker and Arkady Barr; her nieces and nephews, Bobby Hurlbert, Christine Franco, Jessica VanNostrand, and Ryan Robbins; her paternal uncle, Ralph Bradt; and several cousins. Debbie was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Squires and Florence Gray; her paternal grandparents, Edward and Carrie Bradt; all of her maternal aunts and uncles; her paternal uncle, Orville Bradt; and her cousin, John Bradt. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Union Rural Cemetery, Mayfield with the Reverend Bonnie Orth of the Mayfield Central Presbyterian Church officiating. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. The family would like to offer their sincere appreciation to the professionals at New York Oncology and Hematology in Amsterdam and Mountain Valley Hospice in Gloversville, as well as Reverend Bonnie Orth for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Mayfield Central Presbyterian Church, PO Box 432, Mayfield, NY 12117.
