Jean C. Fernandez, of Sprakers, NY passed away Saturday, January 22, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam with her loving family at her side. She was born July 23, 1933, in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late Joseph and Jean Sadowski Bedka. Jean has been a resident of Sprakers for over forty years, coming from Babylon, Long Island. She was employed by Beech Nut and Life Savers in Canajoharie. Since her retirement she enjoyed reading, puzzles, gardening and being with her friends and family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her loving family includes her husband Mario Fernandez, whom she was wed to on September 6, 1953. Son, Victor Elaine Fernandez of Cobleskill, daughters Jean James Krohn of Tribes Hill, and Lori Stephen Rondeau of New Hampshire. Beloved grandchildren, Matthew Kerri Fernandez, Alicia Fernandez, Amanda Adam Kellerson, Angela Krohn, Duane and Christine Rondeau. She is also survived by a sister Lenore and a brother Richard. Funeral arrangements at this time are in care of Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, NY 12072. Funeral services for Jean will be private and held at the convenience of her family. Contributions in Jean's memory may be made to the Rural Grove Volunteer Fire Department in care of the funeral home office.
