Arthur J. Yost
December 19th, 1924 - June 17th, 2006
Mr. Arthur J. Yost Jr.; age 81, of Mayfield, died Saturday, June 17, 2006 at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam, NY. He was born December 19, 1924 in Gloversville, one of fourteen children to the late Arthur Sr. and Mildred Sweet Yost. A graduate of Gloversville High School, he later served in the US Army from 1943 to 1946 during World War II under the command of General George Patton. He then worked for 17 years at G. Levor and Company in Gloversville. He retired as a machinist from General Electric Company in Schenectady following 17 years of service there. Mr. Yost was a life member of both the V.F.W. Post #2077 in Gloversville and the Mayfield Service Men's Club. He was married on June 15, 1946 to Florence M. Crepeau who survives. He is also survived by two sons, Arthur J. Yost III and Duane A. Yost of Mayfield; six brothers, Alan Yost, Larry Yost, Leland Yost, Gerald Yost, Merle Yost and John Yost; three sisters, Betty Timmerman, Grace Thompson and Nancy Waffle; three grandchildren, Holly Anne Yost, Kelly M. Curtis and Todd D. Yost; four great-grandchildren, Matthew Curtis, Sara Curtis, Abigail Curtis and Alex Yost; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Yost and Bob Yost; and two sisters, Jean Whitehouse and Virginia Yost. A memorial service will be held 6:00 pm Tuesday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, with the Rev. R. W. Williams officiating. There will be no calling hours. Cremation took place at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078.
