V. Lowell Hinman was the oldest child of Harvey H. and Margaret Lowell Hinman, born September 27, 1942 in Denver. His formative years were spent in East Denver as a Highlander Boy from 8 years of age until graduating from high school, ROTC member while in high school and a graduate from East High in Denver, 1960. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the Marine Corps where he trained in electronics and radar before deploying to Atsugi, Japan, being assigned to the 542 VMF-AW. He was employed by I.B.M. in 1965 as a programmer and expanded his career in many interesting and exciting directions. His employment afforded him opportunities both in the United States and abroad where he worked with many colleagues and made many close friendships. In 1995, he retired after 30 years of service and immediately continued his position as a contractor for 15 more years. He truly enjoyed everyone he worked with and loved a good challenge. He lived his life by the Corps. values of honor, initiative, loyalty and high example. These qualities served him well in his career, his continued comradery with 542 unit, lifelong friendships and family. He thoroughly enjoyed a good meal with friends, happy celebrations, quiet days hiking and fly fishing, travelling with a good book to read, snow days working on his stamp collection and invigorating games of cribbage. He is survived by his partner and wife of 26 years, Nancy, son, Michael D. and wife Lisa (Seader) Hinman, daughter, Cynthia (Hinman) Jones and husband David, grandchildren Mikayla and Brienna Hinman, Tanya and Jay Grubbs. 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Douglas and sister in law Laura Hinman, his sister Nancy Hinman and his grandson Charles H. Grubbs. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude†™s Children†™s Hospital or a charity of your choice. We also ask to please support our military service people through charities and kindnesses every day.
