Henry “Hank” Cauwenberghs Jr., 71, of Canajoharie, NY, went home to the Lord on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at St Mary’s Hospital.
Hank was born on December 6, 1952, in Paterson, NJ to the late Ada (De Ruyscher) and Henry Cauwenberghs Sr. He graduated from Wayne Valley High School in New Jersey and joined the Army National Guard soon after, eventually earning his title as Staff Sergeant in 1975. He worked for Bell Telephone in New Jersey for 17 years and moved to New York in 1986, where he began his lifelong career as a farmer.
Farming was Hank’s greatest passion in life, and he owned and operated Pleasanthill Farm. He loved nothing more than planting, cutting hay, caring for his cows, and watching his crops grow. He was a hardworking man who always took care of his family.
Hank married his loving wife Judy (Steenburg) Cauwenberghs on May 22, 2004. Together they cared for and raised their home, farm, and children.
He was predeceased by his parents Ada and Henry Cauwenberghs Sr.
Hank is survived by his wife of 20 years Judy Cauwenberghs; three children Jennifer, Joseph, and Danny; four stepchildren; multiple grandchildren and step-grandchildren; one sister; as well as nieces, nephews, many friends, and neighbors.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, from 11am to 1pm at Betz, Rossi, Bellinger and Stewart Family Funeral Home, 69 Otsego St, Canajoharie, NY 13317. A service of remembrance will follow at 1pm with Pastor John Riedle officiating. A private burial will take place in Mapletown Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ayres Memorial Animal Shelter by mail to 133 Hilltop Road, Sprakers, NY 12166.
