Ronald Curtis Denny
Ronald Curtis Denny, 80, of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2024, at Suncoast Hospice Care Center in Pinellas Park, surrounded by loved ones. Born on October 6, 1944, in Harrodsburg, Kentucky, Ron was the son of Dorothy Slama Denny and Thurman Denny.
Growing up in Kentucky, Ron graduated from Burgin High School in 1962 and soon found his calling in boat manufacturing, a career-defining his professional life. In 1967, he and his beloved wife, Carolyn June Denny, moved to Florida, where they began building a life rich in family, friendship, and adventure. Ron was a cherished member of the Gulf Beach Masonic Lodge, known for his kindness and generosity among his Masonic brothers.
Ron was a “jack of all trades” and could fix anything—a gift he often used to help family and friends alike. He and Carolyn were inseparable and soul mates in the truest sense, sharing a deep love for travel and home renovations. Together, they built countless memories, bringing their creativity to every project and place they visited.
He is survived by his daughter Glenna Soper, his son Jason Denny and daughter-in-law Jennifer Denny, and his cherished grandchildren, Aidan and Stella Denny. He also leaves behind his siblings Olivia Hewell, Glenn Denny, and Michelle Treat. Ron was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carolyn, whom he adored.
In his later years, Ron bravely faced the challenges of Parkinson’s disease with strength and resilience. Above all, his greatest joy was found in his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he adored and who brought him immense happiness.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 25, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home, 2201 Dr. M.L. King Street North, St. Petersburg, Florida 33704. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in Ron's name to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research at https://give.michaeljfox.org.
Ron’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him as a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
