Effie Louise Barnett, 79, a lifelong resident of Davenport, FL, passed away on January 10, 2025, at her daughter's home, surrounded by her loving family, in Polk City, FL. She was born on September 9, 1945, in the Piney Woods of Griffin, Georgia, but was raised in Florida. Effie was a devoted homemaker and a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church in Loughman, FL, and she also attended Christian Heritage Baptist Church in Winter Haven, FL. Effie truly enjoyed gardening and spending time fishing, especially in her own pond. She loved watching her grandchildren play baseball, cherished family gatherings at her home, and had a deep love for children. She was passionate about dancing to country music and enjoyed listening to Dolly Parton. Effie’s sense of humor, loving nature, and ever-present smile endeared her to everyone she met. Known for her good heart and a touch of wild spirit, she was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Effie was preceded in death by her parents, William and Viola; her husband, Donald Lee Barnett; her son, Jeffrey Barnett; and eight siblings. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Sandra (Bobby) Rouse of Polk City, FL, Adam (Taci) Hasting of Irwinton, GA, Bobby Joe (Carrie) Hasting of Lake Wales, FL, and Mark Hasting of Davenport, FL; her stepson, Thomas (Mickey) Barnett of Lake Wales, FL; her daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Barnett of Davenport, FL; four siblings; fifteen grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A second visitation will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m., all at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Haines City, FL. Effie’s final resting place will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Haines City, FL.
