Jan L. Myers, 68, passed away at home on March 30, 2025, on Edisto Island, South Carolina. Born in Orangeburg, South Carolina on July 2, 1956, Jan lived a life full of creativity with a profound love for the outdoors. She shared her creative gifts with the community of Edisto since first moving to the island in 1979, and most recently through her work with the Trinity Church Flower Guild, and Edisto Beach State Park.
She was the beloved mother of Adam Freeze and Taylor Freeze, mother-in-law of Christine Freeze and Lauren Freeze, and grandmother to Logan and Hunter Freeze. Her family also includes her niece Meredith Myers Barnette, Meredith’s husband, Chris Barnette, and their daughters Leila, Sarah, Emma Haynes, and Sophia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Dorice Myers, as well as her brother, Jimmy Myers.
Jan’s life was a vibrant tapestry woven with color, beauty, and nature. A gifted artist with a passion for painting and arranging flowers, she found joy in expressing herself through creative pursuits. Her love of gardening reflected her nurturing spirit, which she brought to her role as the Chairperson of the Trinity Church Flower Guild. She had an innate ability to bring life and beauty into every space she touched
Among some of her favorite pastimes were walking the beach at night in search of sea turtle nests, creating vibrant paintings, designing crafts with driftwood and shells, and designing tranquil outdoor spaces. Whether tending to plants at home and church, or walking along the beach, Jan felt most at peace surrounded by nature.
A memorial service celebrating Jan’s life will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Trinity Church, located at 1589 Highway 174, Edisto Island, South Carolina 29438. A reception will follow the service at Trinity. To honor Jan’s memory and bring new life to the Church gardens, the family kindly requests donations to the Trinity Grounds Beautification Guild in lieu of flowers. (https://www.trinityedisto.com/)
