In Loving Memory of Linda Marie McDaniel
April 19, 1939 – May 2, 2025
With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Linda Marie McDaniel, who departed this life on May 2, 2025, at the age of 86. She lived a full and vibrant life, marked by adventure and a deep love for her family.
Born on April 19, 1939, Linda was a spirited and accomplished woman from the start. She played collegiate tennis with drive and determination, laying the foundation for a lifelong love of staying active. In her later years, she discovered and embraced pickleball with the same enthusiasm, becoming an avid and joyful player who rarely missed a game.
Linda earned her Bachelor of Arts degree (Hendrix College in Conway, AR) and Master of Arts degree (University of Arkansas at Fayetteville) in English Literature. She utilized her education and the love for literature to teach grammar and writing to students from junior high school to college graduates. Later in life, she was accepted into the Sociology department at the University of North Texas where she earned her PhD. Her PhD Dissertation focused on Family Systems and Addictions. She provided counseling at a number of facilities and nursing homes. Education was always a priority and she taught English Grammar and Business Communications at the University of Texas at Arlington and the University of North Texas.
Her zest for life extended far beyond the playing courts and matriculation. A true world traveler, she journeyed across the globe with wonder and curiosity, collecting stories and unforgettable experiences along the way. Whether exploring a new country or returning to a favorite destination, travel was her way of sharing experiences with her husband and connecting with the world. She and her husband lived in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico for half the year for a number of years.
Linda also had a love for real estate investing. To her, this was more than a hobby or job, it was a deep passion. And as Master Bridge Player, you could always find her online around 4:00 pm playing duplicate bridge with her playing partners.
She is survived by her loving husband, Floyd “Del” McDaniel; son and daughter-in-law Todd and Tracey Kesterson; son and daughter-in-law Chad and Kelly Kesterson; stepdaughter Kim McDaniel; stepson and daughter-in-law Derek and Christina McDaniel; and eight grandchildren. She found great joy in spending time with her family, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Linda will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, drive, determination, and passions as she moved through life.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
