Dr. Randall Allen Wilson, 73, went home to be with the Lord on 05/13/2025, surrounded by loved ones in Mesa, Arizona.

Born August 19, 1951, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Randy was the beloved son of Lawrence Marion Wilson and Evelyn Maxine Howell. A lifelong learner and dedicated public servant, he earned degrees in chemistry, psychology, physiology, and medicine. He served honorably in both the U.S. Army as a psychiatric specialist and the U.S. Navy as an intelligence officer. After earning his M.D. from the University of Kentucky in 1998, he practiced family medicine in Garrard and Mercer counties until his retirement in 2015. Randy faced multiple battles with cancer throughout his life with quiet strength and unwavering faith, continuing to serve others with grace and compassion even during his most difficult times. He is survived by his former wife, Janet Smith, with whom he had two sons.

Randy was known for his quiet compassion, deep integrity, and lifelong dedication to serving others. His desire to care for others led him to medicine, where he became a trusted physician and a pillar in his community. His patients valued the time he took to truly listen and connect, often saying he made them feel seen and heard. With a rare ability to explain complex medical issues in clear, relatable terms, he helped people feel informed and cared for—earning their trust not just as a doctor, but as a steady, reassuring presence in their lives. As devoted as he was to his work, Randy was equally present for his family—always showing up for birthdays, sports, graduations, and important moments with love, support, and his steady calm.

He is survived by his children, Jacob (Sarah) Wilson and Jonathan (Vaz) Wilson; two grandchildren, Rylee and Landen; and three siblings, Daniel (Jackie) Wilson, Lauri (Mark) Ongley, and Melody (David) Duren. He was preceded in death by both his parents.

A celebration of Randy’s life will be held in both Kentucky and Arizona. -Kentucky will be May 24th at the Lancaster Church of the Nazarene (131 Victory Ln, Lancaster, KY 40444.) Visitation will be from 1pm-3pm and service will begin at 3pm. -Arizona will be June 6th at Missio Dei Mesa (19 N Robson #101, Mesa, AZ 85201). Visitation will be from 4pm-6pm and service will begin at 6pm. In accordance with his wishes, Randy will be cremated. All who knew and loved him are welcome to attend and honor his memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center, so that others may have hope and support in their fight against cancer.
