Mary Ann was born at Providence Hospital in Seattle on March 28, 1950, to Florence (McGerr) Horn and Eugene Horn (MSgt USMC). Mary Ann attended St. Catherine’s grade school, where she was chosen to crown the Blessed Virgin in the eighth grade. A joy in her growing up years was going to CYO summer camp. In 1966 and 1967 she was on staff at Camp Blanchet. Mary Ann attended Blanchet High School and Western Washington University where she earned degrees in Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, Special Education and Regular Education. In 1978, Mary Ann was chosen “Woman of the Year” by the Chancellor Club, a singles Catholic group.
She loved to travel and spent many exciting summers seeing the world with friends. She was dedicated to her passion and great love, teaching. Mary Ann worked as a Special Ed and Regular Ed teacher in the Seattle School District for 34 years.
She was predeceased by her parents, her brother John and her sister Sherry. Mary Ann leaves many wonderful friends and relatives in the greater Seattle area, Connecticut and Massachusetts. Mary Ann had a great sense of humor. Mary Ann was a long-time parishioner of St. Luke’s Catholic Church, and her faith was very important to her. Mary Ann was a member of the Seattle Retired Teachers association.Donations can be made in her honor to a battered woman’s shelter or the American Diabetes Association.
