Janet Natalie Boyle
December 16th, 1934 - April 26th, 2025
Janet Natalie Boyle passed away peacefully at her Des Moines home on April 26, 2025 at the age of 90. She is survived by her numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Janet was born on December 16, 1934 at Providence Hospital in Seattle. She spent her early years in Burien and attended Holy Family Grade School in White Center. Janet graduated from Highline High School in 1953 and went on to Seattle University.
Ms. Boyle was an excellent educator and mentor at St. Francis School in Burien. As a popular 7th grade teacher and girls' volleyball coach, she was known as a disciplinarian with a kind heart. Coach Janet's volleyball teams won numerous All City CYO championships.
In the mid 60's, Janet left education to work as an optician at Burien Optical until her retirement in 1999. Upon retirement, she moved to Tulare California to join her sister Pat and many members of her family. In 2022, Janet came back to Washington and resided in Des Moines until her passing.
Janet's faith, family and community centered her life. She will be remembered for taking nieces, nephews and cousins on many special adventures; camping, skiing, ball games, road trips, and visits to Santa at Christmas.
Janet was predeceased by her parents George and Florence Boyle, her sisters Frances Downing, Patricia Drilling, Jeanne Moeller and brother "Sonny" who died in infancy. Her companion, Barbara Birch passed in 2018.
The rosary will be recited on Thursday, June 12th at St. Francis Church,
15236 21st Ave. SW in Burien Washington at 7:00 PM.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 13th at 10:30 AM, also at St. Francis. Following the mass, a reception will be held in the parish hall.
Janet's dedication, love and support will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
