In Loving Memory of Laura Catherine Walters (“Cathy”)
Our beautiful, loving Mother and Oma, Cathy Walters, tragically passed away on June 15, 2025.
She was born in Bad Kreuznach, Germany on February 24, 1958 to Douglas and Brigitte Seaman. She was the older sister of Robert (Bob) Seaman. Raised in a military family, she lived in many places before settling in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She graduated as the first graduating class of Doherty High School in 1976.
Cathy had a long and dedicated career as a claims adjuster with State Farm Insurance, working in Colorado for most of her career and retiring in Arizona after more than 30 years. She was a hard worker and always strived for perfection. She made many lifelong friendships along the way. She was a joy to be around and known for her kindness and beauty.
She was married for 38 years to Eddie Walters and raised three children – Renee, Brandon, and Tonya, who were the center of her world. Though their paths recently went in different directions, the years they spent building a family together were an important chapter in her life.
Our mom was the heart of our family – a gentle soul who always made others feel included and had the most thoughtful compliments to share. She often underestimated her own impact, even though it was felt by everyone. She always wanted everyone to be happy and often made sacrifices for others. We will miss the long talks, her listening ear, her beautiful face and bright blue eyes, the lingering smell of lotion and Doterra oils, her hugs that could melt our worries away, and standing beside us in the kitchen for treasured meals that brought us together.
Being an Oma was a gift she treasured. She loved to create memories and was a constant source of joy in her grandchildren’s lives. They will miss her warm snuggles, laugh, piggyback rides, hide-n-seek, what time is it Mr. Fox, surprise donut deliveries, story time, Disneyland adventures, fancy clothes, thoughtful gifts, and spontaneous dance parties.
She was preceded in death by her parents. She missed her mom deeply, it brings us peace knowing they are reunited and wrapped in each other’s arms.
Cathy is survived by her brother, Bob Seaman, her three loving children, Renee Gurrola (Nick), Brandon Walters (Nona), and Tonya Romero (Jonathan), and nine cherished grandchildren, Keatyn, Kassius, Payton, Jovian, Kinzley, Ariston, Ryder, Coleson, and Alekzander.
We would like to thank everyone for all their support and prayers. It has brought so much comfort speaking to each of you.
One of her favorite songs was “Don’t Worry Be Happy.” So, when you hear this song, smile, remember her sparkle, and dance away your worries.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Christ Greenfield Church at 425 N. Greenfield Rd. Gilbert, AZ 8523, on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at 4:00 PM. Please join us to honor Cathy, share memories, and celebrate the light she brought into this world. Dancing is encouraged – she wouldn’t have it any other way!
