Gary is survived by his brother Francis “Cisco” Moises Gonzales of Albuquerque, sister Celeste Willett of California, and brother Jerry Mix (spouse Jessica) of California. He is preceded in death by his brother Michael Gonzales, mother Sharon Rulofson (Schaffer) and father Onesimo “Oney” Jose Gonzales. Gary was married to Eustacia Gonzales in 1996, divorced in 2007.
Gary grew up in the Bay area and was a lifelong Raiders fan. He had a career in construction and would point out the projects he worked on around town. Gary enjoyed riding his Harley, smoking bbq, and taking time with friends. He gave generously of his time to the Storehouse food pantry, located around the corner from his home. A Catholic upbringing taught him to help those in need. And, though he did not have much, he gave generously from what he had. At Christmastime, he was always the relative with toys for all the kids.
Catholic mass will be held at San Felipe del Norte Church in Old Town on Friday, August 8, 2025, with a rosary at 10:00 A.M., followed by mass at 10:30. Burial will be in San Pedro, NM, and a reception at the Land Grant Hall in Carnuel, NM.
