Dennis Johnson

Dennis Johnson, 86, of Sun City, Arizona, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2025. Born in Derby, England, Dennis led a remarkable life marked by service, innovation, and deep connections with family and friends.

Dennis’s early life was wrought with World War II, he and his friend Vernon had to walk to school past bomb sites.  They used to collect newspapers to earn money.  As a child, Dennis sang in the church choir and there ensued a passion for signing and music.  He was a good singer and liked to sing karaoke.  Before he joined the Air Force, his father taught him house painting and renovating which he did not enjoy.

Dennis proudly served in the British Royal Air Force for 17 years. During his military tenure he was an Electronic Fitter (Ground Communications) then continued on to Satellite Communications.  One early retirement from the Royal Air Force, he progressed to the world of computers and became an expert as a Computer Engineer, and then with Personal Computers.

A man of many talents and interests, Dennis was a table tennis champion during his time in Singapore, an enthusiastic water-skier, years later became an avid bowler, earning the prestigious 300 ring, though he wished he had more time for golf.

Dennis and Susan shared a beautiful journey together, knowing each other for almost 54 years and celebrating 50 years of marriage. Together, they built a loving family. 

Dennis is survived and cherished by his wife, Susan Johnson, and their children, Sarah and her family and Mark and his family.  From Dennis’s previous marriage he leaves behind his children Graham and Christopher Johnson and their families.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Mary Johnson, and his siblings Ken, Jim, and Daphne.

A Celebration of Dennis’s Life will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Regency Mortuary, 9850 W Thunderbird Blvd, Sun City. This will be an informal gathering for family and friends to come together, share memories, and honor the life of a truly exceptional man.

Dennis will be remembered for his warmth, wit, and unwavering love for his family and friends. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched.
