On June 22, 2025, Alice Thompson (Age 90), of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away peacefully in Phoenix, Arizona. Born in Metropolis, IL, Alice was the beautiful daughter of Vance and Mary (Tabor) May. In the 1940’s she relocated to Michigan with her parents and brothers, Bobby May and John May. In 1955, she married the love of her life, the late Robert Thompson of Brookport, Illinois. Though they had no children of their own, Alice and Robert enjoyed keeping busy by spending time with close friends and loved traveling, camping, fishing, taking cruises, making various arts and crafts together, and ultimately playing BINGO!

Alice dedicated 30-years to her career, where she climbed the corporate ladder from file clerk to corporate treasurer during a time that women didn’t always preserver. She used her high morals and strong ethics to carry her through life. Alice and Robert spent their retirement years traveling between Michigan and Florida. Her last days were spent living in a beautiful senior living community in Ahwatukee, surrounded by many neighbors and her loving family. 

Alice was so fortunate to have the love, support, and companionship of her loving husband and family throughout her entire life and is survived by her closest nieces, Karen (May) Vigil of Ahwatukee, Arizona; and also enjoyed her daily calls from Debbie (Thompson) Hicks, of Metropolis, Illinois following the passing of her much adored husband Robert Thompson. Both nieces had a special place in her heart. Alice will forever be remembered for her strength, bravery, and for the quiet yet powerful legacy she leaves behind. A private memorial will be held at a later date to celebrate her life and honor her memory.
