William Thomas Skinner

William Thomas Skinner, 89 of Tampa, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on August 12, 2025 after a prolonged illness.  He was born in Graceville, Jackson County, Florida, in a log cabin with no electricity to Curtis and Ethel Skinner.  He was very proud of his humble beginnings.

He was a retired accountant and a lifelong fan and alumni of Florida State University, while attending he was also a member of the Alpha Kappa Phi Fraternity. He loved the outdoors especially hunting and fishing.  He was a faithful member and ordained deacon in the Baptist Church.  William served in the US Army for two years.

William is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carol Skinner, a daughter, Stacy (Scott) Curran and two grandchildren, Ashlyn and Dayna Curran, his brother, Richard "Dewayne" Skinner, Bentley his beloved Maltese as well as numerous other family member and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Carolyn Shields and Elaine Todd.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the entire Pink Team and Continuous Care of Life Path Hospice for their care, concern and support during this most difficult time.  Florida Mortuary Funeral & Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.  A private service for the family will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at 1:00 pm at the Tallahassee National Cemetery in Tallahassee, FL with full military honors being conducted by the Big Bend Honor Guard.  William "Poppy" will be deeply missed by all who knew him and for his sense of humor and infectious smile.
