In Loving Memory of Mr. Thomas R. Wolford
Thomas R. Wolford, a father, brother, and friend, passed away on August 9, 2025, in Winter Haven, Florida, at the age of 75. Born on November 3, 1949, Tom was the son of Richard Wilson Wolford, Sr. and Grace Knight Wolford, both of whom welcomed him into the world with love.
Tom's journey took him from Winter Haven High School to the U.S. Navy, where he served his country honorably during the Vietnam War. Although he left school to enlist, he later earned his GED, demonstrating a commitment to personal growth and education. His service to his country was recognized with several accolades, including the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
After his military service, Tom returned to what became his passion for construction, becoming a skilled carpenter and great construction superintendent. He was known for his expertise and leadership in the field, managing the construction of many well-known restaurants across the Southeast United States. He was not only an inventor with a creative spirit, but also someone who took pride in every project he undertook, leaving a lasting legacy in the communities he served. Tom enjoyed motorcycling, he loved his boats & motors, had many friends through the years, he was very active, he loved Jesus and showed/practiced Christian beliefs in many ways.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Brenda Culpepper Wolford, and his parents, Tom leaves behind a cherished family. He is survived by his daughter, Heather Wolford Dawkins; brothers Richard W. Wolford, Jr., Robert Wolford, and sister Carolyn Harmon; along with his grandson, Logan Dawkins. He also held a special place in the lives of his nieces, Deborah Wolford, Michelle Wolford Ream, and Jessica Wolford; nephews, Sean Hutson, and Jason Wolford; sister-in-laws, Kathleen Wolford, Tammy Wolford; and brother-in-law David Harmon.
As we remember Tom, we also look forward to celebrating his life in a forthcoming event. His warmth, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to family and country will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. In these moments of remembrance, we find solace and strength as we honor a life well-lived.
