Vincent Camello Pisano

Our beloved “Papa,” Vincent Carmelo Pisano, was born August 8, 1932, in Rochester, Monroe County, New York, the eldest of five sons of Amelia Louise Vierra (1908-1992) and Vincent Ignacio Pisano ( 1905-2000).

In 1935, his parents moved to what was the small, agricultural town of Mountain View, on the verdant peninsula of San Francisco Bay, in Santa Clara County, California.

They originally lived on Villa Street, on the corner of Hope, raising Vince and his four brothers, Jerry, Jim, Tom, and Mike.

Later, they moved to Mountain View Avenue.

Vince attended Highway School, then on El Camino Real, and graduated in 1950 from Mountain View High School, then on Castro Street, where he starred as a basketball forward for the Eagles and where he met his cherished Shirley Jean McCulloch, before serving in the US Army at Fort Lewis, in Washington, in 1952.

Vince was an artist. He loved everything Walt Disney created and interviewed with Walt, connecting over their love of animation. Mickey Mouse was his favorite.

In 1957, he married Shirley Jean Browne, and they welcomed Catharine Julee and Larry Vince Pisano.

In 1959, Vince opened his own company, McKim Plastics, and later he opened Active Cabinets and Fixtures. Vince built cabinets and countertops for over 48 years.

In 1975, Vince reunited with his high school sweetheart, Shirley Jean (McCulloch) Johnson in Cupertino, CA. They married in September 1975; he instantly got four more children à la “Brady Bunch”: Melanie, Sheryl, Michael, and Kathy Johnson.

In 2000, Vince and Shirley moved to The Villages in Evergreen, San Jose, where they were the “life of the party” on Caledonia Way. An avid bowler, Vince claimed three 300 games. He loved sports and was infinitely proud of daughter Sheryl Johnson’s bronze medal US Women’s Field Hockey win at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. As well as all of the “kids’” accomplishments.

In 2021, Vince and Shirley made the onerous move from their adored Villages lifestyle to join their family in Idaho, where he has been surrounded by his proud family and puppy Sadie.

Vince and Sheryl would frequently watch the WNBA Fever games simultaneously from their respective homes.

Vince is predeceased by his parents and brothers, Jerry, Jim, and Tom.

Vince will be so missed. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Shirley (McCulloch Johnson) Pisano, daughters Catharine Pisano, Melanie (John Hawker), Sheryl (Neely Crowley), and Kathy Johnson (Jeff Wesolowski); sons Larry Pisano (Cheryl Pisano) and Michael Johnson; six granddaughters, Emilee Amaro (Nick Amaro), Amanda DeNolf, Elise Tarens (Krnl Sanders), Erica Tarens, Janelle Veen (Ben Veen), and Megan Wesolowski (Andrew Felty, to be married October 4th), one grandson, Kevin Brooks (Laura Brooks) three great granddaughters, two great grandsons, his brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Phyllis Pisano, numerous precious nieces and nephews, extensive extended family, and countless friends.

After celebrating his 93rd birthday last Friday with his family, Vince passed peacefully on Monday, August 11, 2025, at age 93 years and 3 days. 

Vince’s family is profoundly grateful to the medical staff at St. Luke’s Hospital in Meridian and the Boise VA Hospital for their tender care.
