Gabriela Ariel Hendrix passed away suddenly on August 9, 2025. She was born on September 27, 1991 to Salvador Calderon and Claudia Guzman. She was a native of Santa Cruz, California.

Gabriela was a great writer, loving mother, and loyal friend. She was brave, silly, bubbly, and funny. She loved reading and visiting the beach. In 2014, Gabriela had an encounter with the love of God that forever marked her heart. Despite her struggles, Gabriela always held on to the hope for better days.

As a child, Gabriela enjoyed fishing with her dad. She was the best at fishing of all her siblings. She would always eat her catch and wanted the fish served with the head on, just like her dad. Gabriela loved the holidays. She enjoyed the food her father would prepare for Thanksgiving and the wonderful Mexican feast her stepmom would prepare for Christmas.

Gabriela loved her three boys even though she did not have them in her care. She continually expressed how much she loved and missed them. Throughout her life, Gabriela had a distant relationship with her biological mother and did her best to stay in contact with her. She had a special place in her heart for her siblings and was always loving and gentle with them.

Gabriela had a special relationship with her stepmom, Blanca, and always greeted her with a hug and kiss. They never had a fight or disrespectful word between them.

Gabriela will be greatly missed by all who knew her. There is peace in knowing that her children are here to continue her legacy of love and compassion. To her father, Gabriela will always be "Daddy's Little Creep."

Gabriela is survived by her father, Salvador Calderon, and stepmother Blanca Calderon; biological mother Claudia Guzman; sons Zion Calderon, Christopher Calderon, and Nazareth Hendrix; brothers Jesus Calderon and Nicholas Calderon; sisters Elizabeth Calderon and Fatima Calderon; aunt Angelica Martinez and uncle Jesse Martinez. She is preceded in death by her little sister Angela Faustina Calderon.

A Rosary will be held at 9:30am on Friday, August 22, 2025 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Capitola. There will be a Funeral Mass at 10am followed by a Committal Service at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
