It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of Ronald G. Carter (Ronnie), who passed away peacefully at the age of 67 on August 19, 2025, in Mooresville, North Carolina, after a brief illness. He was surrounded by his family during his final moments. Ronnie was born on September 12, 1957, in Columbia, South Carolina, and is predeceased by his parents, Boyd Carter Jr. and Mary Lou (Thurmond) Carter.
Known for his quick wit and good sense of humor, Ronnie was an avid fan of the South Carolina Gamecocks and a dear friend to many. He attended Midlands Technical College and spent the early years of his adult life in the banking industry. In his quest for a stable long-term career, he joined Carolina Eastman Kodak (Dak America), where he dedicated 25 years of loyal service until his retirement.
He is survived by his children, Hayden Boyd Carter and Addison Haley Carter; his brothers, William (Bill) B. Carter (Janet) and Samuel (Sammy) P. Carter (Gaye); numerous extended family members; and his girlfriend, Dawne Muncey Snell. Ronnie cherished his friends, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of life service will be announced, along with a gathering for family and friends, with the time and place to be determined. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nurses of Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell in Mooresville, North Carolina, for the compassionate care they provided to Ronnie in his final days. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association in Ronnie's memory.
