Richard A. Andrella, 78, of Syracuse, passed away on Monday, September 1st. surrounded by his loving family.  He was born in Syracuse on December 1, 1946. (He shares a birthday with his grandson Dylan Andrella) Richard proudly served his country in the US Army from 1966-1968, in the Vietnam War. He went on to work for Crouse Hinds as a machine operator, retiring after 31 years. Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, wrestling and vacations with his family. He also loved Eagles.

 

He was predeceased by his parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters and his favorite uncle Ted. He now joins his dogs, Duke, Leo, Buffy and Sammy.

 

Richard is survived by his wife of 57 years, Cindy (Patchen), his sons; Pete (Kim) and Richie (Amy), his daughters; Sue (Rich), Shelly (Dwayne), Sherry (Joe), 4 granddaughters, 5 grandsons, 2 great-grandsons, his beloved dog Misty and several nephews.

 

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7PM on Thursday, September 4th at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, 4612 S. Salina St. Syracuse, NY 13205.

 

A funeral service will be at 10AM on Friday, September 5th at the funeral home.

 

Burial will be in Onondaga Valley Cemetery following the funeral service.

 

A special thank you to his son Richie and daughter Sherry for helping their dad from the beginning to the end of his journey. A special thank you to Doctor Dignant Nanavati for taking care of him for over 30 years.

Rest in peace we love you and will miss you.
