John Albert Vagenas
May 28th, 1960 - September 7th, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of John Albert Vagenas, who left us peacefully on September 7, 2025, at the age of 65. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, whose warmth, witty humor, and dedication to his family and passions will never be forgotten.
John was born to George and Nancy Vagenas on May 28, 1960. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his brothers, Dan and Mark. John's legacy, however, lives on through the countless lives he touched over the years. For 35 years, John worked as a butcher, a job he took great pride in, known for his work ethic, craftsmanship, and the care he put into every task.
In addition to his professional life, John had a deep love for the outdoors. He cherished fishing and camping, finding peace and joy in the beauty of nature. He had a special place in his heart for Hawaii, where he found solace, and for the mountains that always felt like home.
John also had a passion for music and sports. You could always hear the classic rock sounds of Aerosmith echoing from his home or garage as he worked on his prized Mini Cooper. He was meticulous in caring for his car, and his attention to detail was reflected in everything he did. John took great pride in being an avid San Francisco 49ers fan. His loyalty to the team was unwavering, and he could always be found cheering them on during every season. His enthusiasm for the 49ers was contagious, and watching a game with John was an experience full of passion and excitement. Whether win or lose, his love for the team was never in question.
Above all, John's love for his family was his greatest joy. He is survived by his "Beautiful Bride", Brenda; his son, Jayson, and daughter-in-law, Mary; his daughter, Kristin; his beloved grandchildren, Jackson and Ava; his father-in-law, Dave (aka Pops); his sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews; and his loyal dog, Roxy, who brought him great comfort and companionship.
A celebration of John's life will take place on October 3, 2025, at 11:00 am at St. Ignatius of Antioch Church, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Shriners Children's Hospital, or St. Ignatius Church of Antioch. John's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but forever cherished.
