Carl Fredrick Fanatia

7/26/55-9/13/25

Carl Fredrick Fanatia was born in Denver, Colorado on July 26th, 1955, to Opal Mae Von Rechenberg of Basin, Wyoming and Lewis Wilber Fanatia of Saline County Kansas.

Carl grew up in Sheridan, Colorado. He graduated from Elizabeth High School in Elizabeth, Colorado in 1973.

After graduation, Carl moved to Great Bend, Kansas where he worked as a semi-mechanic until he met his former wife, Kandy Wilson. Carl and Kandy moved to Liberal, Kansas where they got married on October 1st, 1977. Soon after, Carl adopted Kandy's daughter Kathleen and gave her the last name Fanatia.

Carl pursued his lifelong career as a Welder in the oilfield and construction. Carl was known to be an incredibly talented Welder. Some would even say "he was the best."

In May of 1978, Carl and Kandy gave birth to their son Kenneth Fanatia, in Shattuck, Oklahoma. They resided in Liberal, Kansas until 1986 when the family moved to Arvada, Colorado.

Carl spent his remaining years after his children Kenny and Kathy were raised, living and working in various parts of Colorado, where he resided until he passed.

Carl was known his entire life for being an incredibly brilliant, hardworking, and caring man. He loved his two children, seven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren unconditionally.

Carl was a kindhearted man who would give his family and friends the shirt off his back if they needed it, despite how much or how little he had. He was incredibly social and made friends wherever he went.

Carl's hobbies included woodworking, building things, attending car shows and races with his son Kenny, watching football and baseball games, and being in the mountains (just as long as it did not involve being in the water). He was not known for his strong swimming skills,

Carl passed away peacefully in Louisville, Colorado surrounded by his son Kenny and other family members who loved him dearly, on September 13th, 2025.

Carl is survived by his mother Opal, brothers Joe (Donna), Dee (Debie), Lewis, and Tom (Debbie), his sister Frances (Mike), his former wife and dear friend Kandy, his son Kenny (Melody), his seven grandchildren Aubrey (Trevor), Zachary, Trystin (Randi), Devan, Dominik, Kyra (Matthew), and Isabella, and his seven great grandchildren Nora, Analicia, Olivia, Greyson, Eian, Freya, and Kaisley.

Carl is known to all his grandchildren as "Gramps". Carl will be joined in heaven by his father Lewis, his daughter Kathy, and his great grandson Kasen. Carl will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him.

Carl's final wishes are to have his ashes scattered in the mountains where he always felt the most at peace.
