Robert D. Liss, known to all as Bob or Bobby and as a very much-loved Husband, Father, Dzidza, Grandpa Bear, Brother, Uncle and Friend, passed away on September 11, 2025, at age 80 in Prescott, Arizona.

Bob was born and grew up in Philadelphia. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy in Vietnam. He also supported and contributed to several Veteran groups as well as being a member of the Yavapai County Veterans Association.

Bob had 3 true loves in his life. His family, golf and dogs. Family to Bob was everything. He was especially proud of his 5 grandchildren, Savannah (Anni), Brendan, Brian, Ryan and Julia. Although he hadn’t been able to play golf for several years his love of the game never wavered. Golf was always a part of the conversation with his nephew RJ and friends. Bob always had a dog in his life. Puff, Rags, Dillon, Doc, Miss Kitty Russell, Festus and Abby, all Labs except Puff and Rags. He never met a dog he didn’t like.

He loved all birds. Hummingbirds, cardinals, eagles, flickers, hawks, great blue herons, chickadees and titmice were some of his favorites. He also loved the garden, especially tomatoes.

Bob would talk to anyone, especially kids. He would always ask them how they were doing in school, always striking up a conversation with them. He was a generous man who loved helping family and friends in any way.

Everyone who knew Bob knew of his love for cooking. His vodka penne, waffles, pickled beets, Italian dressing and the pancakes he made for his grandkids were some of the recipes he enjoyed making the most. The Christmas cookies he made every year with his wife Jeanne were also special to him. He also enjoyed a good hoagie, cheesesteak, hot dog, pizza and a Yuengling. Mostly all Philly favorites.

Bob worked in Bristol, Pennsylvania for the Dial Corporation for many years, until it closed, in various positions, the last being Maintenance/Engineering Manager. He also spent several years at Ato Chem and Stepan retiring after a few years from MI Windows and Doors after moving to Arizona. Bob and Jeanne met at the Dial Corporation in 1990 and were married for 31 years. They traveled all over, usually on cruises. He loved the ocean. Their most special place was Italy. They also traveled frequently to Las Vegas where they met and made many friends over the years. Moving to Arizona in 2002 they settled on a 10-acre site in Chino Valley. He loved the beauty and quiet of the surrounding area.

Bob is survived by his wife Jeanne, children Jennifer (Bob) Diffley, Jim Hyatt and Kimberly Hyatt, grandchildren Savannah, Brendan, Brian, Ryan and Julia, sisters-in-law Joann Liss and Nancy (Phil) Brewer, nephew RJ (Nancy) Liss and Abby his pup.

He is so deeply missed, but we know he’s at peace, surrounded by his parents Oscar and Luphamia, his beloved brother Richard and his brothers-in-law Bill and Tony who all preceded him, as well as other close relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers please consider sending a donation to the DAV (Disable American Veterans) or the DLRR (Desert Labrador Retriever Rescue) in Arizona, Bob’s two favorite organizations.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be at a later date.

Please share your memories, stories and photos of Bob.

This high, this wide and this purple, my love.

To Those I Love

Isla Paschal Richardson

If I should ever leave you whom I love

To go along the Silent Way,

Grieve not,

Nor speak of me with tears,

But laugh and talk of me as if I were beside you there.

(I‘d come – I‘d come, could I but find a way!

But would not tears and grief be barriers?)

And when you hear a song

Or see a bird I loved,

Please do not let the thought of me be sad…

For I am loving you just as I always have…

You were so good to me!

There are so many things I wanted still to do –

So many things to say to you… Remember that I did not fear…

It was just leaving you that was so hard to face… We cannot see Beyond…

But this I know:

I love you so –

Twas heaven here with you!
