Orie will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and greatgrandfather, whose friendliness and faith touched all who knew him.

Orie Laverne Ennis, 86, of Silver Springs, Florida, peacefully passed away at home on September 16, 2025.

Born and raised in Yates City and Elmwood, Illinois, Orie built a life defined by faith, family, and hard work. In 1958, he moved to Joliet, Illinois, where he began his career with Caterpillar Tractor Company. He dedicated 33 years to the company, retiring as a quality control inspector.

Orie was a man of strong faith and was an active member of the Christian Church, both in Illinois and later in Florida, where he and his wife made their home. In the winter season he was also very involved in the church in the community where he lived.

Orie was known for his kindness, patience, and generosity, as well as always being ready to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed traveling the U.S., dancing, and spending time with his neighbors, most of whom have become treasured friends.

He is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca (Becky) Ennis; his brother Fred (Carol) Ennis; his children Daniel (Danny) Ennis (Annette), Christopher (Chris) Ennis (Lynn), and Eric Emanuelson(Melissa); and his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Daniel (Alisha) Ennis with Tristen and Lilyanna, Destinee Ennis with Shyann, Gaige, Ryder, and Raelynn, Derick Emanuelson(Anna), Dylan Emanuelson and Drew Emanuelson, Morgan (Johnnie) Gargano, Brooke (Kyle) Capparelli with Abel and Shiloh, Aliyah Ennis, Lara (Walt) Eldon with Amalie, and Geoffrey (Melanie) Scrimager with Ruby and Oliver.

He was preceded in death by his son Randy, his parents, Harold and Lillian Ennis, his brother Junior, and sisters Josephine and Vada.

A Celebration of Life will be held on November 30, 2025, with details to be announced at a later date.

Orie will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great?grandfather, whose friendliness and faith touched all who knew him.
